A Week in the DR

Canada to Punta Cana

In December, I took a trip to the Dominican Republic for a week. Now this was very last minute and honestly not planned well, but I believe that because it was this way, it made the trip more enjoyable. My mother and I ended up only staying on the property of the resort but the resort was so large that we felt like there was always more property to explore. Our week consisted of us going back and for from the beach, to the pool, to the buffet, and to the bar, only to do it again in random orders.

Our ride from the airport was very interesting and honestly frightening. It started to rain and we got onto our hotel bus at around 11 pm. Since there is an advisory for the DR, it was a little scary to be on a bus in the dark in a foreign country, especially because we could not see the road since there weren’t many street lamps. We still managed to get there safely though at around 1 am local time.

All in all, food was very hit or miss but I enjoyed their pasta the most. One would expect the seafood to be a bit better but I was not too fussy about it. The service was impeccable, my mother and I were not used to that much pampering; we were completely spoiled. Their spa was to-die-for, and was super quiet, creating a really nice tranquil environment for guests to relax. With our package, an aqua-wellness treatment was included and I have to say that I have never been that relaxed in my life. At first I thought that you just swim in a pool with jets and you come out but it was a full body relaxation treatment that worked wonders. I really enjoyed my stay in the Dominican Republic and would 100% come back.
